Find people who can answer your questions about benefits, including how to apply, how getting a job can impact your benefits, and what you need to do to stay on benefits.

The offices you should contact depend on your situation and the benefits you get.

SSI and SSDI

• Call the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 or 1-800-325-0778 (TTY) or go to your local Social Security office.

To understand how work affects SSI and SSDI, contact:

Medicaid or Freedom to Work

• Call or visit your local county human services agency.
• Call the Michigan Medicaid Beneficiary Helpline at 1-800-642-3195 or 1-866-501-5656 (TTY).

Medicare

• Call Medicare at 1-800-633-4227 or 1-877-486-2048 (TTY).
• Call MMAP, Inc. at 1-800-803-7174.

Work Preparation

• Call or visit your local Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) office.
• Call or visit your local Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) office.
• Contact your local Michigan Works! One-Stop Service Center.

Veterans Benefits

• Contact the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency at 1-800-MICH-VET (1-800-642-4838)
• Contact VA's Detroit Regional Office
• Find Claims Reps & VSOs
• Contact a Veteran Navigator

Other Benefits

• For state benefits like FIP and the Food Assistance Program, contact your local county human services agency.
